Electronic Dartboard Reviews

Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Electronic Dartboard at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 39
  • Max Players: 8
  • Board Size: 15.5″
  • Darts Included: Yes, 6

It would be difficult to find a dartboard we enjoyed more than the Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Electronic Dartboard and is our Editor’s Choice for the best electronic dart board.

It’s a fully-featured, regulation-size (15.5”) board which comes with so many possibilities, it’s nearly impossibly to get bored with it.

With the ability to play with up to 8 players, you’ll be able to utilize a 4-player jumbo X/O LED score display which clearly shows the score so you always know where you’re ranking.

Not only that, but you’ll be able to more effectively track your game with the average point per dart being displayed at the end of every player’s round.

The classic red, black, and yellow design gives a bit of a retro look that looks good anywhere, too.

With micro-thin segment dividers, you have a better chance of scoring by reducing bounce-outs. Rather than getting frustrated, you can work on your skills and experience more efficient gameplay.

Even through years of gaming, you’ll find the board holds up against abuse and will maintain its original design with ease.

Should you choose, you can turn on the “Heckler” feature, which works by harassing players who are throwing poorly, and applauding those who are performing well.

Choose your intensity from 3 levels, starting at “mild” and ending at “unforgiving”.

To ensure you can get started playing right when it arrives, the package also includes 6 soft tip darts, extra dart tips, an AC adapter, mounting hardware, and instructions.

WIN.MAX Electronic Soft Tip Dartboard Set at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 21
  • Max Players: 4
  • Board Size: 13.8”
  • Darts Included: Yes, 6

If you liked the Arachnid Cricket Pro but felt it was a little outside your budget, then check out the WIN.MAX Electronic Soft Tip Dartboard Set.

This set is quite similar to the former but is much easier on the wallet. Granted, you don’t receive as many games and can only play with 4 players instead of 8 but if that works for you then keep on reading.

Coming loaded with 21 games and 65 variations, you’ll get to play 301, 401, Cricket, Scram, Bowling, Steeplechase, and so many more.

The LCD display lets you easily select your game and shows all scores so you can quickly tell who is winning. We would’ve liked a backlit display, but it’s by no means poor in this department.

You can also select to turn on the automatic scoring/voice announcer feature which will vocalize the score and adds some excitement to the game!

Thanks to the ultra-thin spider, bounce outs are reduced greatly so you don’t have to keep running to pick up your darts from off the floor.

The wide catch ring also keeps your wall safe from errant throws and saves you from having to purchase additional dartboard surround.

With this package, you’ll also find 6 soft tip darts, 40 extra tips, an AC adapter, mounting hardware, and game manual.

Viper Vault Deluxe Dartboard Cabinet with Pro Score at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 40
  • Max Players: 8
  • Board Size: 17.75
  • Darts Included: Yes, 3

Are you searching for a fully loaded dartboard set that comes with literally everything you need for a serious player?

Then take a look at the Viper Vault Deluxe Dartboard Cabinet. This cabinet comes with an integrated pro score and cricket scoreboard so it’s like you’re playing on a pro setup in the comfort of your own home!

The cabinet is made from wood with a classic walnut finish, carved into a sophisticated design that will complement just about any kind of décor.

The hinges feature an antique brass finish to complete the elegant look, with a magnetic door lock to keep them from swinging out. Not only is it beautiful, but functional, as well.

The cabinet easily protects your walls from errant throws, and also tucks the board away when not in use.

The LCD scoreboard is huge and backlit, making it extremely easy to see the score. The red light provides excellent visibility even in darker rooms, and from the throw line.

The line marker also features a heavy-duty resin which makes sure your throw line marker will hold up with heavy use.

The board itself works perfectly with both steel and soft tip darts, but the ones included in the package are 3 steel tip darts with specially coated brass alloy barrels.

The only real “complaint” we had in regards to this model was that it’s powered by AA batteries and comes with neither the batteries nor an AC adapter, which are both purchased separately.

Centerpoint Solid Wood Dartboard Cabinet at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 29
  • Max Players: 8
  • Board Size: 15.5″
  • Darts Included: Yes, 6

The Centerpoint Solid Wood Dartboard Cabinet is another gorgeous and functional selection, and the perfect addition to any room.

Made of North American yellow poplar and stained with a beautiful dark ebony finish, it’s sure to turn some heads.

However, it does function well too, protecting your dartboard, your wall from stray darts, and allowing you to store your darts with integrated dart holders.

Not only that, but you’ll find durable storage shelves for you to keep anything else you like. The free-standing leg supports or wall-mount option allows for the versatility to use it in any room in your home.

The regulation-size board lets you play with up to 8 players, with the LCD display keeping track of everyone’s scores.

The LCD display is a bit difficult to see at times, and a backlit feature would be very welcome. However, with 29 games and over 90 variations to choose from, you’ll have hours upon hours of entertainment to enjoy.

When you receive your package, you’ll also receive 6 steel tip darts and 6 spare tips so you can play right away. To give you a bit extra peace of mind, you’ll also get a 180-day warranty to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Franklin Sports FS6000 Electronic Dartboard at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 28
  • Max Players: 8
  • Board Size: 15.5″
  • Darts Included: Yes, 6

Next up, we have another budget-friendly model: the Franklin Sports FS6000 Electronic Dartboard which is perfect for kids and adults, alike.

Coming with 6 soft tip darts and an AC adapter, you have everything you need to get playing right away. The soft tip darts also make it a much safer option in case you do have children playing, or hanging around while the adults are.

Mounting is quick, with the package coming with all the accessories you could want, and built-in storage for the included darts.

The standard 15.5” playing area is great for both competitive games as well as improving your skills through practice. With 28 games and over 100 variations, you and your friends or family will never get bored.

The electronic LED display makes it easy to select between different modes, also keeping track of the score.

To play, simply plug in to an electrical outlet – no need to purchase separate batteries! Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a cabinet or anything to protect your wall, so you may want to consider getting some dartboard surround.

Overall, if you’re looking the best soft tip dart board that is very inexpensive, high-quality, you can’t go wrong with the comprehensive Franklin Sports FS6000 package.

Gran Board 3 LED Bluetooth Dartboard at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 20+
  • Max Players: 4
  • Board Size: 15.5″
  • Darts Included: Yes, 6

Easily the most technologically advanced and unique dartboard we’ve used, the Gran Board 3 LED Bluetooth Dartboard is genuinely changing the game.

If money is of no issue or you love new tech gadgets, we can’t recommend this model enough.

While you can definitely play with others in person, if all your friends or family are busy, you never have to play alone. Thanks to the new technology incorporated in this board, you can play with people from all over the world!

Running on 2 AA batteries (without LED lights) you can easily take it and play wherever you want without the need to plug into an outlet.

While it doesn’t come with a built-in LED display, you can connect to your iPhone, Tablet, Android, or Smart TV for all graphics and scoring information. Each bit of info is displayed clearly, so you can instantly know the stats of the game.

Coming with LED lighting and a USB port, the options are endless. The LED lighting makes it a super fun addition to dark rooms or nighttime games, and the acoustic absorbent material in each segment deadens sound.

However, you will have sound from the game that comes through the app on your smart device, so you can choose to turn that off or move it to a Bluetooth speaker if you’d like.

DARTSLIVE-100S Dartboard at a Glance:

  • Number of Games: 10+
  • Max Players: 4
  • Board Size: 15.5″

The DARTSLIVE-100S 15.5 Inch Dartboard is a regulation-size board that’s straight to the point, but extremely accurate. Coming with 6 Japanese soft tip darts, you’ll be able to quickly enhance your skills with precision.

Powered by AA batteries, you can place the board anywhere in your home without having to worry about having an outlet nearby.

The downside, is that you have to purchase them separately and will have to do so each time they need replacing.

The design is a bit unique, with the black frame and the black, white, red, and blue color scheme that goes with the majority of décor.

The kit comes with everything you’ll need to easily mount the board onto just about any surface, as well.

The LED display features large red/orange numbers making it simple and quick to read the score, although, we would’ve liked to have seen more game options.

Here, you’ll find a 5-position volume selector and can also choose to play against the computer. We enjoyed how bright the display was, making it simple to read in both dark and bright environments.

Coming with a 6-month warranty, you can rest assured that your new dartboard is going to last you for a good amount of time.

How to Choose the Best Electronic Dartboard – Buying Guide

best soft tip dart board

Now that you’ve had the chance to read through all of the best dartboards, which one have you decided to get for your home? If you’re still not 100% certain on one particular model, that’s okay.

There are a lot of great options on our guide, and it can be hard to choose just one. That’s why we’ve decided to write up the following buying guide, which will lead you through each aspect of the selection process. By the end, there will be no doubt which is the one for you!

There are various sizes of dartboards available, as well as standards on how they’re supposed to be hung. The “rules” say they need to be hung so that the bullseye is 5 feet and 8 inches from the floor, however, recreational and children’s dartboards are usually larger than your standard size to make it easier to hit. The regulation size is 15.5”, which are what most boards on our list measure as.

Electronic Dartboard

Number of Players

How many players will realistically be playing together on your dartboard? Usually, the least expensive the board is, the less amount of players you’ll be able to play with.

If you want to play with more than 4 at a time, chances are you’re probably going to have to shell out a bit more cash. If you have a large number of family members or enjoy hosting larger get-togethers with friends than you’ll probably want to choose one that allows up to 8 players.

Number of Games

If you’ve never played darts before or are somewhat of a beginner, then this may not be as important to you. You may only want to focus on getting your aim and form correct and working on one or two games and getting good at those.

However, playing the same game over and over for more advanced players can get boring really quickly. More advanced boards come packed with an array of games, with some coming with over 40 games to ensure you never get bored.

You’ll want the display to be clear and easy to read, otherwise what’s the point? We prefer backlit LED displays, as they’re easy to read at any time of day or night, in any lighting.

The display should be large, or at least make sure that you don’t have to squint to read the scores. There are a few models that we reviewed above that have relatively basic LED displays with no backlighting, which are preferable for daytime use or at least for use in bright environments.

The Gran Board doesn’t come with a built-in display, but this is because the score and everything else is displayed on the app on your smart device.

Electronic Dartboard Display

Ease of Use

You’ll probably want the dartboard to be easy to hit, rather than your darts bouncing off the board and ending up all over the floor. That’s why it’s important to look for a model with ultra-thin spiders, to reduce bounce outs.

This makes for a much more efficient game, and allows you to improve your skills by working on your aim and having them actually hit the board.

About half of the products on our list come with an AC adapter, and the other half with AA batteries. There is no “better” option, because it all really comes down to your own personal preference.

AC Adapter

What’s great about AC adapters, is that you never have to worry about them running out of power. All you need to do is find a power outlet to plug it into, and you have essentially unlimited playtime.

However, if you want to mount it in an area that doesn’t have an accessible outlet, then you’re kind of out of luck. It’s also the most budget-friendly option as you don’t have to keep purchasing batteries every time they run out of juice.

AA Batteries

The upside to having a battery-powered dartboard, is that you can mount it pretty much anywhere you’d like without having to make sure an outlet is nearby. The downside, is that you do have to purchase them on your own, and will continue to do so every time they run out of power.

As you’ve probably noticed, some models come with an included cabinet, while others do not. Again, this is a personal preference.

Cabinet: Having a cabinet is a great way to protect your dartboard when not in use, from dust and grime from accumulating on it. The cabinets are usually made out of an attractive wood, so they look good in any room.

They can also fold out to protect your walls, which saves you money and hassle. Usually, they’ll come with dart holders and sometimes sheets so you can mark your scores the “old-fashioned way”.

No Cabinet: You may just prefer the look of the dartboard on its own, or not enjoy the bulk of having an extra cabinet there. However, you’ll probably want to look into some way of protecting your walls, as there won’t be cabinet doors to do so for you.

Electronic Dartboard Cabinet

Do you have an idea of how much you want to spend on your new dartboard? If not, then you should come up with some kind of budget so you avoid feeling regret of spending too much. There are plenty of excellent models for around $50, which is more than affordable for most.

However, if that’s no issue, then going up in price will allow you many more features such as more games, better displays, more of a player allowance, and extras such as LED lights or funny sound effects.

FAQs About Dartboards

Q: What are the differences in darts?

A: Metals vary widely in density and weight. Your cheaper darts will usually come comprised of brass and copper, which are less dense. Pros prefer darts made of tungsten, which are strong, dense, and slim.

Q: What about dart tips? What are the differences between soft and steel?

A: Steel tip darts are typically used with bristle dartboards. They have a very sharp steel point which are made to stick in bristle boards, and can come with around 5 separate removable parts. Soft tip darts are designed to be used with electronic dart boards, coming with a flexible plastic tip to easily go into the holes.

Q: Do soft tip darts damage walls?

A: They are typically just going to bounce off walls, but if you throw them hard enough there is the potential for damage. You can easily avoid this by adding some felt around the board.

Q: Can children play darts?

A: Generally speaking, children over the age of 5 should have no problem using soft tip darts. However, it’s essential that there is always an adult supervising them.

Tips For Playing Darts

#1: To throw darts with precision, you must have the correct stance.

First, place your dominant foot forward and lean into it a bit. Find the center of gravity for your dart. You don’t want it to be weighted forward or backward. Use at least three fingers to hold onto it, holding lightly but securely. Know that when you throw it, it’s going to travel at an arc so take that into consideration when you’re aiming.

#2: To protect your wall, use either dartboard surround or a cabinet.

As previously mentioned, you can add some felt/dartboard surround to protect your walls if you don’t like the look or feel of a cabinet.

#3: Make sure you already have batteries when your dartboard comes.

You’re undoubtedly going to get excited when it lands on your doorstep, so if you know in advance that it requires batteries, go out and have them ready beforehand, along with some extras.

Now that you’re practically a pro in how to choose a great dartboard, do you know which is the perfect product for you?
